Build Your Future, One Cut at a Time

This 3-year apprenticeship program is designed to equip individuals with the skills and knowledge necessary to become licensed residential contractors in Arkansas. Using the NCCER Residential Carpenter curriculum, the program incorporates both classroom instruction and hands-on training, ensuring that apprentices gain comprehensive knowledge in construction methods and business practices needed for starting a contracting business.

1. 1000 hrs of OJT (on the job training):  

  • Focus on basic carpentry skills: framing, flooring, roofing, and installing windows/doors. 
  • Job shadowing experienced contractors. 
  • Introduction to safety practices on job sites.


2. 100 hours of Classroom Instruction

  • BasicCarpentry Skills (NCCER Level 1)
  • SafetyRegulations and OSHA Standards
  • Introduction to Building Codes and Regulations
  • Basics of Small Business Management 


3. Business Development

  • Workshops on business basics, including business structure, licenses, and insurance.
  • Begin drafting a business plan for the future construction company.




1. 1000 hrs of OJT:  

  • Advanced framing, cabinetry, and interior finishing.
  • Working on projects under supervision to gain hands-on experience.


2. 100 hours of Classroom Instruction

  • IntermediateCarpentry Skills (NCCER Level 2)
  • ProjectManagement Basics
  • ConstructionContracts and Procurement
  • FinancialPlanning for Construction Businesses

3. Business Development

  • Market analysis workshops and networking opportunities with local contractors.
  • Complete and refine the business plan started in Year 1.
  • Introduction to accounting and bookkeeping software used in construction.

  • Supervising small teams, project oversight, and customer interaction.
  • Focus on finishing aspects, remodeling, and quality control.

2. 100 hours of Classroom Instruction

  • AdvancedCarpentry Skills (NCCER Level 3)
